About the event

Joanne (Pfannenstiel) Emerick will present a multi-media program featuring the life of Kansas Chaplain Emil Kapaun at 11:00 AM Friday, June 6, 2025 on the third floor of the Ness County Bank Building. The program, entitled The Long Journey Home, tells the story of Fr. Emil Kapaun, Kansas farmboy, Army chaplain, Prisoner-of-War, and Medal of Honor recipient. He is on the path to sainthood in the Catholic church. Emerick dedicates the program to her late cousin, Victor J. Pfannenstiel, Ness City High School Class of 1948, who was also a POW during the Korean War. Emerick is a 1969 graduate of NCHS and is a member of the Kansas Teachers Hall of Fame.
